Dear Readers

This textbook provides an introduction to educational research, and guides students through the research process from conceptualization to dissemination.

The first edition, called Graduate Research Methods in Social Work, by Matt DeCarlo, Cory Cummings, and Kate Agnelli, was adapted by Dan Laitsch for graduate students in education at Simon Fraser University. This adapted and condensed version offers concise instruction for busy students.

The text was originally designed with masters of education students at Thompson Rivers University in mind; however, readers may find that it is relevant for both undergraduate and graduate students in the humanities and social sciences who are interested in the study of society and human behavior, creative expression, culture, and thought.

This is our first foray into adapting an Open Education Resource (OER). If you have any questions or concerns regarding this adaptation, please reach out to Alana Hoare.
